Category: Initial setup | Updated: 8/2/2010 2:16:20 PM | Read: 839 (Last: 9/5/2010 2:39:06 AM)

Concurrent client/user/device is interchangeable and defined as:
The total number of devices that have an IP address which at any given time are resolving DNS through the DNS Redirector server.

In the implementation of a hotspot or other public network requiring authorization in order to surf; this statement does not include clients who are using DNS Redirector but have not yet been authorized. In other words, you are not penalized for users who get assigned an IP, are technically using DNS Redirector and/or visit your welcome site, but do not to authorize in order to surf past it.

Resolution

Your license should cover the peak number of simultaneous clients. There is a hard limit of +15% over the licensed number of clients, additional clients will cause DNS service to stop. You should "true-up" annually if you find the number of concurrent clients has grown past your license.
